PE is the world’s most commonly used plastic material, which is used in many everyday goods. However, in contrast to the more familiar PET (polyethylene terephthalate), the other main chemical component for consumer goods, it is to date hardly ever being recycled. In addition to beworm, only a handful of other companies worldwide are working on this important task for the future. Eleonore is hoping for a revolution in recycling and she encourages each and every one of us to join: on her homepage beworm.org she provides instructions on how to raise waxworms, who will then munch on plastic waste in a small jar in your kitchen at home.

U Talk #16: The Impact of Women on the Tech Start-up Landscape
There are still few female founders in the tech start-up scene. Why is this the case and what can be done to bring more gender diversity into the start-up scene? In this U Talk you will hear a discussion of female founders and an investor.
Everyone agrees that women have a big potential when it comes to founding a tech start-up. Women bring in very strong communication skills and different solutions to problems. Even investors start to push start-ups to have more female managers in main positions. But as women and men communicate differently, investors have to be open and aware to the differences and re-think the patterns they have for male start-ups.
Women have a higher motivation for business ideas with social impact. As many start-ups have recently shown that social impact does not exclude financial success, there will be more focus on ideas with social impact in the future – a big chance for female founders.
The importance of female networks were discussed and how more women can be encouraged to found a company.

U Talk #9: Future of Supply Chains
The corona crisis has significantly mixed up supply chain structures. Holger Mandel, Board Member for Procurement at MAN Truck & Bus SE and Michael Ardelt, COO of logistics startup Forto, talked about how supply chain structures will evolve in the future, how digitization and innovation can help building resilience to shocks such as the Corona crisis, and – on a more personal level – what leadership means to them especially in times of crisis.
