Thomas Jarzombek, born in Düsseldorf, has been politically active for more than 25 years. He served as a member of the Düsseldorf City Council as well as a member of the state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia. Since 2009, he has been a member of the German Bundestag.
From 2014 to 2018, he was the CDU/CSU parliamentary group’s spokesperson for digital policy. Between 2009 and 2021, Thomas Jarzombek was also a member of the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure. From 2018 to 2021, he served as the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs’ Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Start-ups, as well as the Federal Government’s Coordinator for Aerospace.
Most recently, from 2021 to 2025, he was a spokesperson for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group on the Committee on Education and Research and a member of the Digital Affairs Committee. Since May 2025, he has been Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Digital Affairs and State Modernization.
