Maurizio Tamagnini has been the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of FSI since 2016.
FSI manages a €4 billion growth equity fund family, the largest in Italy dedicated to a single country in Europe. Its investor base includes leading sovereign wealth funds from the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Far East, the European Investment Fund, major long-term institutional investors, the largest European insurance companies and banks, as well as major family offices.
From 2014 to 2025, Maurizio Tamagnini served as Chairman or Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board of STMicroelectronics, a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing, jointly owned by the Italian and French governments, with a current market capitalization of US$ 40 billion.
Previously, he worked for more than 20 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as Head of Southern Europe for Corporate and Investment Banking and as a member of the Executive Committee for the EMEA region.
Maurizio Tamagnini is the Founder and a Board Member of the Tech Europe Foundation (TEF), together with Bocconi University, the Politecnico di Milano, ION Group, and the Milan, Monza Brianza and Lodi Chamber of Commerce. The Foundation’s dream is to create an ecosystem with one thousand technology start-ups in Italy.
He is member of the International Advisory Board of the Harvard Medical School of BIDMC (Boston) and of the FII Institute – Future Investment Initiative Institute in Riyadh.
He holds a degree with honors in International Monetary Economics from Bocconi University in Milan and completed postgraduate studies at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, USA.
